Last time Texas voted for TEXIT, it didn’t work out too well.
I don’t think the votes are there from the voters.
90% of 50 to 60% are for it. So what? It won’t fly and it’s “rubbing your Johnson” material. May be a nice idea but it ain’t going no where. Get every body on board, possibly but you better lock and load. Just saying.
Good question, what would happen if a state wanted to secede from the union?
We know our civil war history. Military force was used to keep the union together back then. Would military force be used today, if a state voted to secede? Would a peaceable agreement be worked out, to allow a state to leave the union?
What about the American citizenship of Texas residents? Would that citizenship be revoked?
Just some questions I wonder about. Nobody knows what would happen nowadays if states wanted to leave the union.
I would never pass; and if it did, it would be very bad for the people of Texas.
So? Brexit failed many times too. It took strong visible leaders like Nigel Farage who took YEARS of personal time to push it to the masses. Time for a divorce and there’s only one state capable of doing this, and it’s Texas.
Texas was a Republic - a separate country.
When admitted to the Union they reserved the right to Texit.
So we can go when we want.
Yeah, no.
That status begs other questions, such as, if Texas can secede whenever they want to, why didn’t they remain out of the union after the civil war? Theoretically they could have exercised that option then.
I like the idea but probably the details would be tough.
I have a friend who literally just moved this week from Portland, OR to the Houston area (Woodforest). She can’t believe how friendly everyone is and is so happy!
Wish I could get some of my family to leave the left coast...
“Military force was used to keep the union together back then.”
Back then. Magic 2 words. with a woke military whose latest policy is gender pronouns and low morale, I have more than an idea who wins this time..
Yawn.
No, Texas can’t legally secede from the U.S., despite popular myth
The right they reserved was to divide into multiple states, not to secede.
This is a great time to do it. If you need to threaten the other states, go ahead. Brexit took years to happen and it did. Nigel Farage took a decade of personal time to get it done. Texas WILL separate.
I stated 10 years ago Roe will overturn in my life time, and I’ll double-down Texas will secede within the next 30 years..
“When admitted to the Union they reserved the right to Texit.”
Yawn.
You gonna stop them?
Not even that. It’s 90% of the delegates at the RPT convention.
I expect they’re a little more hard core than the average Texan registered Republican.
We will. Hopefully, peacefully and legally. The implosion of the USA economy will be the trigger. Could be with a few years. I know that there are several very well known people that are in favor of it (but on the downlow for the most part).
Well good luck. Crockett and Travis are gone. They should have stayed out when they were out. IMO.
More importantly, what will the Russians and Chinese do?
Like the French who were so eager to join the Yanks in slapping the British around, don’t you think either Russia or China would be all to happy to help Texas humiliate the US?
Russia will remember how we welcomed the splintering of the Soviet Union, and China will remember our support for Taiwan.
I think Texas could be successful this time around because our sins will always come back to us.
