Still whistling past the graveyard I see.

Strangely ironic that you should formulate it that way - considering the large number of Russian soldiers being sent to the graveyard.

Lots of Ukrainian troops and civilians, too - but they died defending their homeland, not attempting to conquer foreign territory.

Are Ukie losses posted anywhere. I do not distrust these figures but the Ukies are not the Martians from War of the Worlds. They are not invulnerable to Russian firepower. I am in no way a supporter of Putin, just looking for info so I can guess as to what’s happening and what’s likely to happen.

So sayeth George Soros' gaslight press.

The war is over. Russia got everything they wanted. You got nothing except a sprained knee from all the empty-headed knee-jerk virtue-signaling.

Thanx, but the numbers are unconvincing. The Russians have lost almost 800 tanks and the Ukies 200? The Germans didn’t come close to matching that ratio in 1940 against the Frogs.

Wow, that news must have elicited cries of joy from all of the Russian troops currently deployed to Ukraine. So they're going home now?

Did Ukraine perhaps have fewer tanks to begin with? The two forces were unequally matched, after all - at least near the start.

Perhaps Ukraine simply refrained from sending 40-mile-long tank columns into enemy territory, where they stopped in their tracks?

Such a skewed ratio is not impossible if the opposing forces have a different mix of arsenals. Just as in Vietnam, where the Viet Cong didn't lose a single heavy bomber (because they didn't have any!)

It's called "asymmetrical warfare" for a reason.

You’re on the same side as the guy who abandoned Afghanistan in the middle of the night and left $80,000,000,000 of military equipment for them.

And that doesn’t give you enough of a hint.

Ukraine: military situation update with maps, June 19, 2022
(’Orc’ is associated with the various hoards of Mongol invaders, as well as LOTR evil villains)

War in Ukraine
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP2QApi8G2TKc8NZmeDWSUg/videos

Artillery (key to success in this war), Fuller explanation of Orc military structure, Other Bonus articles - see previous postings in “Attack on Europe” (FR title search).

(Numbered printed material below - Some of the items below may be out of date, and not updated yet)

••denotes transcribed dialogue.

———————————————————————————————————————
••Ukrainian command announced losses
Tanks 400
Artillery pieces 700 - this is a major hit.
Infantry support vehicles 1300 - a liability better gone.
Loss of 50% of heavy weapons.

Lost of 700 artillery pieces since Feb, but received only 200 new - deficit of of 500. Significant loss in an artillery war.

••Russian artillery how it works:
Example: 2C1 Govzdik ; 122mm/barrel length is 35 caliber; fires 4-5rpm; range is 15.2km
Old way: Needed forward Artillery observer. He has to be literally on front line or in grey zone, facing death. Need FAO because you don’t know what you hit or how to correct fire. Dispersion become significant after 7Km
Need lot of artillery pieces 100-200 pieces per 1km of front line. Saturation fire to hit target. Still using these prices in this way because have lots of shells.

Example: 2C19 Msta-C ; 152mm9/barrel length is 47 caliber; fires 7rpm; range is 29km.
New way: Now uses dedicated UAV instead of FAO. Orlon 10 can fly up to 5km altitude and fly for 16 hours; looks down on battlefield; can only be shot down with AA fire or missiles - a very expensive proposition. Camera sends images to Msta-C within 60 seconds and the Msta-C can adjust easily. Msta-C becomes a ‘sniper rifle’. Since it is embedded in the artillery battalion, no one can take the Orlon away, plus all data stays with unit. This leaves infantry without any official UAV support.

Overall situation:
M777’s range is not long enough, so Msta-C can take them out. Have lost 1/3 of the 108 M777s so far (training and many other issues play into this loss). Very high attrition level is not sustainable. (Edit: apparently the M-777s need repair after first use, but cannot be does in Ukraine.)

France sent 12 excellent CAESARs; 155mm/barrel length is 52 caliber. The larger the caliber, the further it can shoot; here this means the Caesar can shoot ~40km. Msta-C becomes prey with newer shells. (Edit: shells delivered are old shells that can only go 18-28km.)

Poland sent 18 excellent KRABs; 155mm/barrel length is 52 caliber
But problem Ukraine does not have an Orlon 10 to correct fire - so not able to use the weapons to full effect. The few UAVs the ZSU has, do not fly for as long or as high as the Orlon; they are not embedded and can be taken away by any one at any time. (Edit: this where the US Army’s Grey Eagles would come in, but they use sensitive tech and will not be sent, unless that tech can be taken out. Maybe not even then.)

(Edit: not mentioned are the 50 M109s 155mm, caliber 52 known to be in Ukraine.)

(Edit: Russians have longer range artillery such as 203mm Pion, Smerch rocket launchers and Iskander missiles. Nor was the brand new and maybe not yet fielded 2S35 Koalitsija-SV. https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world//russia/coalition-sv.htm)

The artillery situation will be become critical in 4-5 weeks. Without a strategic answer, Ukraine will lose the artillery war

These high efficient Western SPA pieces can change war, especially after the 12 German-made PzH 2000s arrive. All of these can pick off the basic Russian artillery unit, the Govzdik and the newer units like the Msta-C.

However, if the Russian artillery situation remains as it is right now, the Ukraine army will get chewed up.

Historical analogy: in WWI between Germany and Russia, the Germans had the artillery advantage. This lasted for some years and broke down Russian infantry and led to Russian revolution in 1917. Look to fall time frame, maybe sooner - hard to be correct without exact numbers - this state of affairs will destroy Ukraine infantry and artillery ... without a fix, this situation will lead to loss. They have to change survive.

UAVs are super critical in this form of modern warfare, as they basically replace the FAO. You are not placing your people are not placed in danger. Most valuable equipment are the heavy equipment, plus large troop concentrations. This is only one area that needs quick and drastic change; there are a lot of other areas the ZSU needs to change to successfully defend itself. Artillery is the most urgent and critical.

———————————————————————————————————————
Summary: No essential changes.
Key areas:
- Izyum bridgehead: no changes.
- Severodonetsk: Ukrainian troops continue keeping foothold at Azot plant.
- Popasna area: no changes.
- Svitlodarsk area: no changes.
- Donetsk West: no changes
- Kherson bridgehead: no changes.

1. Kharkiv: Russian troops continue putting pressure with the goal of capturing Rubizhne which is in UA hands.
••Only ZSU 92nd and militias remain here.

2. Izyum bridgehead. low intensity fighting, mostly artillery fire.

3. Severodonetsk - Ukrainian troops are fighting at Azot plant, main supply route is destroyed. The re-supply of Ukrainian troops is significant challenge.
••Logic of holding on to the city is questionable from military perspective.

4. Popasna area: No changes.

5. Svtilodarsk area: No changes.

6. West of Donetsk: Avdiyivka and Maryinka. No changes.
••Some reserves brought in to stop heavy pressure from the Wagner Group.

7. Vugledar is in Ukrainian hands. No changes.

8. Velyka Novosilka - Gulyapole stretch of frontline. No changes.

9. Kherson bridgehead: No changes. Based on unconfirmed sources, Ukrainian troops still control Bruskynske.
