Years ago I read Harrison Salisbury’s excellent ‘’The 900 Days; The Siege of Leningrad’’.
Talk about harrowing. When we’ve eaten all the dogs and cats
and then when we start eating each other, as Leningraders eventually did then we’re REALLY in trouble!
What’s really sad is after the War, Stalin had most of the Leningrad Leadership during the Siege killed. He treated anyone from Leningrad with suspicion.
