One word: PODS.

Hire locals to load it if you can’t. PODS means no giant moving day rush. It will still likely run you $5K or so for your size house.

Second word: PURGE.

Sell or give away things that you don’t need and can be easily replaced. Define “Don’t Need” broadly. I have moved across state lines a half dozen times, and when I get rid of 100 things it turns out I needed two of them. So I get the two things.

So, there shall be no migrations like the Okies going to California during the Dust Bowl era of the 1930’s?

Maybe more like the Trail of Tears, when the eastern Indian tribe people were force-marched to Oklahoma in the 1830’s.

The 2030’s are coming. Time for another “Great Migration”. Or maybe people shall just lie down and die where they are at.

When Trump was POTUS I remember paying $1.60 for regular. Today it’s at $5.09.

That final view of Fairfax Cty Va and the whole DC area receeding in your rear-view mirror for the last time is worth whatever it costs...

There are going to be a lot of people freezing to death next winter, but it is a small price to pay for getting rid of “fossil” fuels.

Plus:

EIA does not directly collect retail electricity rates or prices. However, using data collected on retail sales revenues and volumes, we calculate average retail revenues per kWh as a proxy for retail rates and prices. Retail sales volumes are presented as a proxy for end-use electricity consumption.

The cost of natural gas that’s delivered through pipes was up 24% in February from the year prior, while electricity went up 9%. Price spikes are notably higher in places where electricity is generated from natural gas, such as the north-east, which saw a 16% increase in January from the same time last year, with prices dipping down to a 6% increase in February....Fuel oil, still a major source of home heating in the north-east but less so in the rest of US, has seen the sharpest increase of 44% compared to the year prior. - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/mar/13/us-utility-bills-energy-prices-increase

How much will it cost you to rent one of the big trucks round trip and move the stuff yourself ...

Just take the truck back and bring your car to your new home ...

Thats how we moved to TN years ago ...
