Too close to reality...
You often hear politicians praising “first-responders” as running towards danger while others are running away from it.
They must not mean the officers on duty at Uvalde that day.
A squad of lions led by a sheep will not do well.
Where’s the satire?
The actions directly contradict the instructions my son received at the training center for federal law enforcement officers, such as those that are part of FPS, NCIS, and ICE. After Columbine when officers waited for SWAT, best practice was changed to immediately and violently intervening when first arriving on the scene of an incident. Even for people without extensive firearms training, as these people supposedly had, I am reminded of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain at Little Roundtop and what can be accomplished with audacity, especially against those without training proceeding with a mentally deranged picture of how the scenario is supposed to turn out.
By the way, my son's supervisor who made the hiring decisions always took advantage of the preference given to veterans. In my son’s case he was part of the Marine Presidential Security Forces in 2004. Not bad for a “true freshman” just out of high school.
Compared to the WW II and Vietnam eras, there are few who enter police ranks from the military and now even that environment is suspect. Evidently the supposed training did not penetrate, which is in keeping with the way individuals having only a deleterious public school and university education would process the information.
