Sounds like a woke movie to me.
Hopefully Tom Cruise rode a motorcycle at some point because ... Tom Cruise motorcycle
😁
Saw it last night as well. Not bad at all! There was one “F-bomb” that had zero reason to be in the movie and I think the writers missed a big opportunity to hit one of those lines that just sticks with you. Instead, they opted for vulgarity.
The tough-girl thing really turns me off. Secondarily, the predictable minority superiority over the whites also turns me off.
Would like to hear others’ assessment of the movie.
Thanks but I’ll save my money.
Thanks. I’ll look for it when it shows up on fmovies.
LOL, all guys describe their girlfriends as being "hot".
Welp... Unfortunately the black culture has turned me away from anything entertainment dominated by blacks. If the majority were blacks in this flick, I’ll give it the Mexican approval... I’ll Passo!!
Did the Paramount tour years ago and they gave some of the movie magic stuff done in the original. Like the scene where Cruise is hanging out with the girl on a little patio outside a trailer, that was actually filmed as a close in shot in the back alley between production buildings at a back door.
Any Drag Queen shows or other LGBT content reflective of our new and improved military?
I have good reason to believe that the above is NOT an accurate representation of an actual USAF, USN, or USMC fighter squadron.
Oh and btw, Jennifer Connoley is my new crush. She'll be yours too.
I saw a few Tweets over the past few days claiming that Maverick was about an old guy getting the young girl and asking why Kelly McGillis was replaced by Jennifer Connelly.
The thing is, Connelly is 51 and Cruise is 59. That's certainly an appropriate age set.
McGillis, OTOH, is a 64-year-old, out-of-shape lesbian.
Jennifer Connoly has been my crush since 1984.
Saw the movie with my wife yesterday...great “summer” movie with just enough (not too much) appropriate flashbacks.
I would call this a very good sequel...not too many of those around.
Star overcomes fears from a flying accident to become a hero and wins beautiful girl - less sophisticated than that? LOL!
Thanks for the review.
“And the pilots assembled for the dangerous mission were the utmost in diversity, with a tough talking hispanic female, a dorky white guy named Bob, and the rest black and hispanic millennials acting like the had watched the first Top Gun several times in order to learn how to act like an Alpha Male”.
SOS! I’ll save my $.
I am just here for the pic of the hot girlfriend
We saw it yesterday. Your review is almost exactly mine.
“...overall the movie was fantastic. It was nail biter.”
A guy movie, but we chicks were on the edges of our seats, too.
“There was NO overt political language and that was very nice given todays movies.”
That stood out to us, too. DH thinks it’s because Cruise is a good businessman and would rather not alienate half of his audience. (If any wokeness like rainbow flags, homo couples, etc., had appeared, we’d have left.) Of course, there was the obligatory diversity but that’s everywhere.
“There were a few shirtless beefcake shots “
Oh, yes. :)
Also interesting was how they worked Iceman (Kilmer) into the plot.
The girl lead Connelly — I’d never heard of her before although my husband had. I didn’t think she was anything special. Even though Kelly McGillis is a lesbian I think she was a stronger counterpart to Cruise — better chemistry.
We’re glad we went; it was very entertaining even though quite fantastical.
