Breaking: A leaked draft decision indicates that the Supreme Court will overturn the Roe v. Wade abortion decision

A draft decision indicates that the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn the controversial Roe v. Wade decision that established abortion rights in 1973.

The initial draft majority opinion was obtained by Politico and published on Monday. (SEE: https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/02/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-00029473)

The draft is written by Justice Samuel Alito and was reportedly circulated inside the court.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes, referring to a separate decision that defended abortion rights. The leak of a draft opinion is unprecedented in the modern history of the Supreme Court.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division," Alito continued.

"It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives," he adds. The draft decision is related to a challenge against the abortion decision by a Mississippi pro-life law.

“The inescapable conclusion is that a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions,” Alito concludes. "On the contrary, an unbroken tradition of prohibiting abortion on pain of criminal punishment persisted from the earliest days of the common law until 1973."

This smacks of BS to me. The Court doesn’t leak draft opinions. This looks like an attempt to stir up trouble as a means to intimidate Roberts and Kavanaugh. Silly, they are always intimidated.

Left is ok with it

“The draft decision is related to a challenge against the abortion decision by a Mississippi pro-life law.”

Is Politico saying this “challenge” has been heard?

Roberts could go either way at this point. Kavanaugh and Gorsuch already stated during their confirmation hearings that they WON'T overturn Roe, so I'm calling BS on this story.

The Court doesn’t leak draft opinions.

The Progressives are like cornered rats.

They see their power at risk.

They are willing to break all traditions, all conventions, to keep power.

Legal abortion is a cherished prize, where they showed they owned the Supreme Court and the Constitution meant nothing.

It almost certainly was a draft majority opinion. It’s too detailed for anything else.

The leak is unprecedented. I’m flabbergasted that a clerk, even a libtard clerk would stoop to these depths. The only reason for such a leak is to try to drum up the goon squad to intimidate a justice into changing their mind.

What this means is that there were at least 5 votes in conference to overturn Roe. The next step would be to circulate opinions. Justices in the majority can and do sometimes change their minds and a majority opinion can turn into a minority one.

This actually happened with Casey in 1992. There were initially 5 votes in conference to overturn Roe. Then O’Connor got cold feet and drafted a new opinion and pulled Kennedy and Souter on her side.

The fact that this draft was leaked means that a liberal clerk is trying to make that happen again.

As discussed on the first thread, this is deliberate sabotage to try to stop this decision from ever being made. This leak is nothing to celebrate - indeed - it could be a huge tragedy that this leak has occurred.

This looks like an attempt to stir up trouble

So, what if you wanted to prevent the Supreme Court from issuing an opinion overturning Roe vs Wade? How to do it???

Get feminazis and Antifa to riot at the Supreme Court building and burn it to the ground. Maybe kill several justices. Burn other buildings as well for good measure. Place snipers around the area with instructions to kill the riot leaders so that no one will ever find out who in the FBI instigated the chaos.

So you’d reverse Roe but not that absurd gay marriage opinion?

If it’s true I wouldn’t doubt the illegal unethical actions of a leftist judge or clerk.

Also wouldn’t they say “vacated” rather than “overruled?”
