I mostly choose to disengage with anyone displaying that level of severe mental illness. Or rather, they usually choose to disengage with me when I tell them that they are suffering from delusion and not doing themselves any favors by giving in to it.

It seems we are required to tolerate this, then accommodate it, then support it, subsidize it, then fully accept it, then celebrate it.Then either make way for it (as in: bow out) or convert to it.

I’m not a big fan of Ben Shapiro but on this one he’s right. What you do in a personal interaction with someone does not have to reflect your approach to the broader issue. If you are in a position to deal with a freak personally, it’s not unreasonable to treat the freak respectfully as long as you are in its presence.
All the more reason to minimize any dealings with them, by the way.
