I was surprised to learn that Forsyth is still around, having read several of his books in the 1970s. Turns out that he is now 83.

The last I read by him was a memoir cum autobiography. He's quite an interesting man - qualified in jets for the RAF but decided on a career in journalism and then writing novels. I would think he has some inside sources in British intelligence FWIW.
