This week, the US Selective Service System tweeted out that conscientious objectors need to register for “Alternate Service” to avoid being used as cannon fodder in the next war.
“In the event of a draft, our agency would partner with @fema to provide opportunities to conscientious objectors to ensure our nation keeps moving forward,” the agency tweeted with a link to the website to register.

I’m active duty. Twenty plus years in. I have a 17 year old son. I’d move my family to a Caribbean nation that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US before I’d let my son get drafted.
You might have seen them. But since they don’t look a bit like classic recruiting videos, they’re easy to miss.
We haven’t needed a draft since 1975, and arguably even well before that.
My own experience with this tinhorn dictatorship was maddening. Registration was reinstated in 1980 so I went down to the post office to register. 15 years later I was in college trying to get a loan and they told me I had not registered. Bullshit.
So I said, “no problem, I’ll just re-register. If I get called up, that’s that, I’ll serve.” They said I was too OLD to register now. Complete and utter bullshit.
So I worked with my useless congressman at the time, Mr. Huffington whose fame was that he inherited oil wealth and was married to Arianna Huffington. No avail, more bullshit. Then I worked with my senator Dianne Feinstein who, being one of the most powerful politicians on the planet, still couldn’t get this ridiculous part of a tyrranical & useless bureaucracy changed. Complete and amazing Kafkaesque bullshit.
Drafting Snowflakes? Good luck with that.
