That incident inspired the frankfort school critical theorist Theodor Adorno to write articles labeling the nazis as a right wing party. The New York Times picked up his articles and repeated his meme endlessly. That in turn was picked up by the rest of the left.
Voilla nazis are extreme rightest. So the republican party had nazis on their right wing. Wasn’t true at all. But through the magic of language and the democrat control of the media—they made everyone act as if it were true.
What makes this significant is that from their inception in the in the 1920’s and through the 40’s, the nazis were considered to be a leftist street gang. Their wars were with the further left communists. Nazis were not a rural party and they were not conservatives or even religious. They were atheists.
Adorno’s slight of hand changed all that.
There is another of these amazing language shifts that the critical theorists have engineered. The democrat party has shifted from being a white racist party of the 1950’s ruled over by progressive liberals to a black racist party ruled over by communists. But they have wrapped their rule in the wrapper of “critical race theory” —which is later version of critical theory of the frankfurt school.
