There has been more than one economist who has noted that if we use the dollar as a weapon, countries will find a way to use another system. They will find an alternate reserve currency just in case the US and Western Europe decide to “cancel” them.
For folks old enough to remember pre-Thatcher Britain, it was an economic mess, largely due to socialism and loss of the pound as the world’s reserve currency.

Let them, the west did without them in the past and can do without them now. Anyone who wants to use their currency deserves everything he gets.
