My wife cut short her workday in police/fire/EMS dispatch last Monday out caution for her fellow employees. They had not been as considerate and came to work sick to avoid using their PTO hours. My wife called for an appointment for a COVID test on Monday. Best the clinic could offer was 10:40 AM Wednesday. By noon Wednesday, she had a positive test. I also had a sore throat by that time...and sniffles. Her supervisor has her off until Feb 6th. Meanwhile, the 12 year old poodle that I have carried upstairs every night for the last two years at bedtime became lethargic on Thursday. By Friday, she was finicky about eating and vomited some that she did eat. Friday night her breathing became labored. My wife picked her up Saturday night about 11:50 PM and she died in her arms moments later. Omicron isn't good for senior dogs.

It's now Tuesday morning. I'm over the omicron infection. Ditto for my wife. The nightly subzero temperatures have my poodles bagged body frozen solid. She will go to the vet today for cremation. Sniffles. Mild.
