It’s Time to Reclaim American Federalism

Those drunk with power in Washington, DC might want us to forget that at the heart of our republic is a radically simple notion: federalism. Now, perhaps when we need it most, federalism is in trouble – but we can still get it back.

Federalism goes something like this, per the 10th Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” That is to say, except where the Constitution gives the greenlight to Washington, federal busybodies and bureaucrats should be butting out of our lives, because the rest of the powers of self-government belong to the people of each state.

Federalism is based on a very simple idea: concentrating power in a group of elites from one swampy city and enabling them to hand down one-size-fits-all decrees to the rest of us is a recipe for tyranny. I

We’ve passed beyond scribbling and discussions. Everyone who still believes in America needs to get active. Go to city council meetings. Hold the GOPs feet to the fire. Watch liberals and when they commit crimes, large or small report them.

One of the absolutely critical virtues of federalism is that states cannot print money, and most of them have constitutions that prohibit deficit spending. In other words, they are required to balance their budgets. Turning social welfare programs/entitlements back over to the states would force those programs to have tax revenues to balance expenditures, which would rein all of them in almost immediately.

I am of the opinion that it is FAR past time to limit the federal government to ENUMERATED powers - ONLY. Further, any law or regulation that would work to restrict, reduce or limit a citizen's rights must pass strict scrutiny before being permitted.

It’s been past time to reclaim American Federalism and lop off the unconstitutional limbs since Roooooosevelt and his commie fellow travelers.

We may even be past the point of federalism. Actual separation may be what is called for.

Nothing wrong with a good or even Great Reset now and then. Assuming you reset the correct things.

The Founders' near-divine gift to Freedom is the maze of levels, branches, super-majorities and authority limits we call the Constitution. All of which are meant to slow the mob's advance. Today the walls of Freedom are overgrown with swampy weeds and bipartisan ladders. A Great Reset to original intent would be, um, Great!

I will buy all four of them a lifetime supply of My Pillows if Trump, DeSantis, Bannon and Gingrich will agree to launch the Make Americans Great Reset. Or something more hash-worthy.

Bannon earns his pillow by dropping the idea of Trump as Speaker Of The House. And push Newt for that instead. If we are going rogue with SOTH, then put in best one in a century. The author of the relatively-great reset known as the Contract w/ America that broke the half-century lock of Dem control. Nobody has more experience. Nobody has a better historian's view of what status it is to which we should be resetting.

Gingrich can rest his heavy head on a free pillow by doing what he does. The SOTH thing, of course. But also as the historically relevant idea generator. I'll prime his pump: something like Contract with America. But more at the state level functionally. Gradually freeing the states from BigGovt, BigRegulation and BigTaxation. Ending what central things can be ended, distributing to the states the ones that can't. Etc.

DeSantis gains sleep perfection by running for Prez. As the guy who will continue at the fed level his glorious ongoing reset to personal control -vs- the central planners, the unvaxed slow-death panels and bio-passports for a cup of coffee. He's got a giant head start among Republicans here. He'll be a term and a half into governing against the central winds of Washington by then. He's a fighter like Trump but could embark upon a longer term, 8yr+ schedule of de-centralization from the heart of the beast.

Trump can fill the pool at Mar-a-Lago with My Pillows, on me, if he will collude. Trump runs for FL gov, wins easy/cheap as the traveling RonAndDon show endorse each other. As prez again, he'd have 4yrs max. As gov he will have the rest of his working years to reign as the larger-than-life super-exec. At home, not in the DC swamp. This time with a unified functional administration and friendlier legislative branch.

Who better than master deal-maker, big thing-builder and executive extraordinaire DJTrump? To lead the states by example this time. As unmasked and unfettered American states learn to compete again. Internally, where competition does the most good. I'd love to see increasingly free red states suck the economies out of the big blues. And Trump cranking up the already powerful FL magnet to steal NY's US House seats. Yeah, NY seats. Specifically, I mean. A gov like The Great Don of FL could make that a stated goal and openly pursue it. Both fun and productive.

Maybe corral the govs of SD, TX, OK and other red state execs. Get them on TV, signing on to the plan, Founding Fathers style. I wanna believe Newt could steal the Great Reset concept, utilizing his go-to superpower to inject and illustrate history in the course of duty.

Freedom over fear. The Re-Revolution. Power (back) to the People.

Don't let to Dems scare you out of your heritage.

And, even The Great American Reset fails, at least the libs would be turbo-tweaked having President Ron and Speaker Newt back in charge.
