Basically, we have each side telling the other, “Good luck. You are an idiot and on your own.”

That's a complete misrepresentation of reality. Most normal people are saying, "Make your own decision." There are, however, many in power saying, "We'll make the decision for you, regardless of the facts. Take the damn shot or else we'll make your life miserable." There are a few with no power saying, "The jab will kill you and if you're stupid enough to take it, then good luck."

Agreed. Every person I’ve talked to says basically “I believe xyz ... but I support people who choose pdq.” Where xyz/pdq can be either for or against the covid vax. Conversely, entities in power, political and corporate, are pushing the vax. No, just no. I will wait until long term data is available. Actually, given the amount of spin and obvious misinformation on all sides I’m not sure I’ll ever trust anything to do with the vax. I know my immune system works. I feel no sense of urgency to get a vax. None.
