U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- On August 5th, 2021, on Southport Road near Spartanburg, South Carolina, Travis Draper, 41 years old, was found dead in his vehicle.
He had a gunshot wound.
Clevenger identified the victim as 41-year-old Travis Antonio Draper of Pacolet.
Roebuck Fire Chief Brian Harvey says crews were called to the scene of a crash on Southport Road and found the man with a gunshot wound.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said authorities are investigating the case as a possible road rage incident.
People were outraged at the killing. The following was published from an interview on Monday, August, 9th, 2021, where people met to celebrate Travis Draper’s life.
“He was a gentleman, he wasn’t no thug, he wasn’t no gangster or in the streets or anything like that. This man was a family man and a great friend. And I mean he was just a well-known individual. I know that many, many people around here is feeling pain for the loss, they’re hurt,” said Jamaal, who has known Travis for more than 20 years.
It has become a cliche. The deceased is always a saint, always a wonderful father.
As this author noted before, there are extremely dangerous people among us. They disguise themselves to look “ordinary”. It makes their life easier. Many people who know them never see the rapacious interior until after they are victimized.
The Sheriff’s Department investigated Travis Draper’s death. They found the shooting was in self-defense. There was a protest.

Another “dindu nuffin” bites the dust.
Indeed. The evidence for self defense is substantial and compelling. And thanks to sensible and common sense gun laws an innocent citizen was able to defend himself from an armed brigand.
The sad thing is the whole thing could have been avoided.
“The Draper family asked the video not be released to the public.”
The request should’ve been refused and the video made public.
Also...I find it odd that a person would shoot at someone else after that person pointed a gun at them...and then not notify police.
They were in traffic, driving, and rather busy, I suppose.
What the dead was, unfortunately, is all too common: a young black man with no impulse control.
Luckily this time the victim was able to defend himself. Actually, a very good shot: one round under the armpit as the attacker (armed) advanced is pretty good shooting.
Draper family is asking for a State investigation now.
The buy drove home, talked to his wife and got an attorney. Had the attorney talk to the police. Very smart move.
They are the smart ones, and extremely dangerous.
The very successful ones learn from their police experiences as minors. Those records are sealed once they reach adulthood.
They learn how not to get caught.
A tiny percentage do. But then they’re probably smart enough not to engage in a chase and shootout on a public highway.
Perhaps the victim’s lawyer can file a civil lawsuit against the Draper estate for emotional damages and the cost of the bullet used to stop Draper’s attack. Then the video and other evidence could be made available.
I met and spent a lot of time with a man I consider a borderline sociopath in Australia.
He fit in well with society. I don't think he would have blinked if he thought a murder would benefit him some how, if he believed he could get away with it.
He is now deceased. Cancer got him.
In some jurisdicitons, 70% or more of murders are never solved. New Orleans cleared 28% of its homicide cases in 2016. Detroit cleared 15%.
They will you in a minute if you stand between them and something they desire, but usually only if they think they can get away with it. So in this case a psychopath would have followed the victim unnoticed to home or to work and planned out an opportune moment to kill him.
The low clearance rates you cite are not a sign of a higher level of psychopaths or sociopaths, but of fear of gang retaliation and the fact that many blacks prefer high crime from other blacks rather than cooperating with white police to put criminals in jail.
New Orleans and Chicago have many Obama sons spiking the numbers of violent activities, and suppressing the number of thorough investigations to solve crimes in areas that get you fired for aggrieving the violent collective.
South Carolina ping!
They create an environment where it is easier for psycopaths or sociopaths to operate with impunity.
Another thing that happens is the more a sociopath gets away with crimes, the more emboldened they often become.
On the other side, close calls of being caught can make them more wary.
I’d bet my right nut that wasn’t the first time Draper flashed his gun at some stranger on the road.
Was the last time though.
