I used to go hang gliding with a guy in his late 70s. He flew on his own not tandem with someone else. He was a great guy. We shared ridge lift with him which means that you are constantly in close proximity with other hang gliders. He was an unpredictable holy terror who made contact with others frequently. Hang gliding in close proximity with others requires quick thinking and reactions. Fortunately none of these minor collisions resulted in serious injury or death. It was good to see this guy back in the air, but I was glad to see that he was taking a tandem parachute ride. He knows his limitations which is why he made it to 100.
