I saw the USA play Spain at the ‘84 Olympics. Only time I ever saw Jordan play live. One thing I remember was riding the bus through the ghetto to get to the Los Angeles Forum. That made quite an impression on a suburban kid. Haha.
NBC has an sports streaming app now. You can watch the events without the nonsense. I like to watch some of the other countries compete that NBC would never show on TV.

No offense to women, but we shouldn’t ever have to say “men’s basketball”.
There is “basketball”, and there is “women’s basketball”.
Same with any sport. It is just “baseball” or “women’s baseball”.
Just like you never need to say “female nurse”. Just say “nurse” unless you want to clarify that it’s a male nurse, in which case you have to say “male nurse”.
This is based on reasonable expectation. When people discuss athletic stars, hall of famers or record holders, they know it’s a male - unless otherwise stated - because males are at the top of every sport.
When people hear “nurse” they picture females because most nurses are females.
Where that doesn’t apply is professions where there is no dominant sex - like teacher. You just say teacher and if you want people to know the sex, you have to say it, either way.
Same with doctors in recent times. Enough doctors are females that their sex can’t be assumed to be male, as it safely could be in past generations.
This isn’t a slight against women - just a matter of current norms and reasonable expectations.
Lebron should dress up like a girl and play against the women’s team.

LeBron is old and tired though. 18 seasons in. And with all those deep playoff runs he’s got to have played at least another 3 seasons worth of games. He even said this season he’s probably never bouncing all the way back from injuries. The calendar might say he’s 36 but the court floor has him closer to 40 or 41. He still has his moments, but he’d be dead weight in the Olympics.
There are others who were as good as Lebron...
Jabbar, Jordan, Bird to name three...
