Good point.
Hafer and Best are interesting characters.
I read Best’s book, Thank you for my service, and enjoyed it. At the time I was working with and recruiting many recently separated combat vets and they shared many things in common with what Best wrote about.
The big one is going from a job where you can be killed, doing important and deadly work, to a civilian job that is never going to be as adrenaline filled as the military. That is not an easy transition, and a lot of vets fail there first attempts.
A lot are also left of center. Shocked me at first, but with 20 years of nation building led by the State team, it makes sense. When you spend most of your life in a situation where you are not allowed to make certain decisions about your private life, have to support what ever you are told to support, and that is by left of center politicians, you end up left because to do otherwise means you will not be in the military.
So BRCC was a brand built by people loved coffee, loved their country, but had no idea of what “building a brand” meant. Their ads are awesome, but I can totally believe someone who was connected enough to work with the CIA not being comfortable with the type of people they were attracting.
I have bought their coffee, and it was OK. I now buy my beans from a local roaster, whom I know personally, and whose beliefs are similar to mine. Nothing against BRCC, but I had stopped with them well before any of this blew up.
I have posted that they are also trying to get funding to grow. Funding means someone else ends up making decisions on the company. I expect the “Black Rifle Coffee Company” to end up being “BRCC” with no rifle soon, and a total rebrand after that. Then Hafer and Best will be shunted aside and it will become another generic coffee brand.
That is the core of today’s ‘Cancel Culture’: Toe the liberal line, or you are going to be ‘cancelled’....................
I agree.. DD is far and away the consistent best of all of them.
Agree. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is the best there is. So they remain true to their namesake. After all, what do you dunk your donut into?
Because the NYT would never edit an interview to make a well known supporter of conservative principles look bad.
Too latte.
I’m a MaryLou’s kind of guy.
“ BRCC Status in the Bon household: Cancelled.”

Ditto for my household (well, really me - no one else drinks coffee much, though my 17 y.o. son is starting). I won’t be buying anymore of their coffee, will smash their mug (and post a picture of that on their FB page), and peel their stickers off of my insulated mug. Buh, bye scammers!
Throwing out Saint Michael to bow down to Saint Fentanyl. That’s enough for me. How long until they support “common sense” gun laws and film a spot with Chomo Joe?
I don’t drink coffee anyway.
Latest kerfuffle aside, it's verifiable that Hafer is a lefty supporter. The reaction by Matt Best and all his buddies the last time Hafer's true colors were exposed and people bitched about it turned me off. Their response was basically FU, he's our friend, don't buy our coffee. It kind of turned me off, as it went way beyond just having your bro's back. As far as I could tell, they never did address the fact that their customers felt lied to. I don't drink coffee, as I could never develop a taste for it, so dropping the brand wasn't an issue for me. I eventually quit listening to their online content, though. Again, not a great loss, as IMO the money ruined them. They are not nearly as funny as they used to be; this coming from a guy that saw Range 15 in a movie theatre when it was released. Hafer's views causing problems with the customer base again doesn't come as a shock to me.
They’re rebranding to just Dunkins these days. Their donuts have shrunk and so has their selection.
Dunkin sells coffee so you’ll buy their donuts. And, it works on me... EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Thank you for posting that. It was very informative. I know there is an ingrained tendency, and certainly in me, to consider those in the military to be conservative. It is not correct, and perhaps never was.
Maybe it’s my own failing, but I am always trying to find companies I want to support with my purchases. There is always a lot of talk on FR about boycotts, which are the opposite side of this. But there should be a positive side, too, if possible. Buy American. Support Conservatives and those who support your views, even in narrow areas.
Then, be prepared to be disappointed, and looking for another source.
“Instead, founder Evan Hafer sat down for a wide-ranging in-person interview.”
And now Hafer is claiming the NYT abused the interview by quoting Hafer out of context.
That should be easy to prove once Hafer rolls the tape that HIS assistant shot concurrently while Hafer was being interviewed (just so there’d be no confusion about what was actually said). Oh? Don’t have your own tape of the interview?
So...Hafer is either lying, or he learned a valuable lesson about doing interviews with the “enemy”.
Yeah, I have no problem shunning them if what was reported in the NYTimes is all accurate, but I doubt it is. And I’ve heard that Best and the others were never full on SJWs but that they were slightly left of center. All in all it looks like they value their personal friendship with they’re SJW buddy and CEO more than they value their business well being. Not a smart move at all. But I also suspect they’ve made so much money by now they really don’t care anymore.
It was a surprise to me as well.
Upon reflection, it made sense. One gentleman, who became a friend, was an Army Captain and was so far left I was shocked.
He said that in most areas, it was easier to be a leftist in the military than a conservative, and that the .gov has been using the military for social experiments since before the Civil War. For all that my friend loves his country, is more pro 2A than most Dems, and appreciates freedom after a career in the Middle East.
Every once in a while we get drunk together and argue.
Huh? Did they mean: "Psych!"?
Steven Crowder used to prominently display Black Rifle Coffee on his desk, until they went after Kyle.
When you lose Crowder......
I thinke so.
