All of the Molech business is in question by scholars - children may have been offered by not actually killed. There is no actual consensus as to Molech and any practices.

In fact, Molech may have referred to not a deity, but to a particular ritual imported into the Jewish religion of that time.

Not a valid argument since there are too many questions arising around ‘mlk’ or Molech- was it even a religion?

what are the chances of Dr Ron Paul beating out Kamala Harris in the battle to perfom that autopsy on the old goat

Reading of the liver (or in the later tradition of entrails) is not done via autopsy, but done immediate after the slaughter - usually throat cutting followed by the extraction of the still living liver.

So the battle will be a) who gets there first and b) who has the sharpest knife

Money would be on Curly because he’s a doctor and would know where the liver is located.

Kameltoe would have no such knowledge and would get lost in a mess of ruptured entrails and other gore (not Al) and likely wouldn’t know what a liver looked like in the first place - a bloody mess, but fitting.

No.

We need to go much further back . . . to Ancient Israel.

So, more like the modern day "Pizza Clubs" and Epstein Island orgies instead of actual murder.

With my cynical view of the darker side human nature, I have no trouble believing either child rape or murder is possible.

No, nether of those involves a religion ... sort of like going to Church on Palm Sunday to get a palm leaf.

Riiiight, let’s dive down the sewer of paganism to fix an already God rejecting world! I suspect you are neither a believer in The God or a friend of Western Civilization.

Religion, government, and culture were not as clearly defined as they are today: so, there were such things as priest-kings where the king was conidered a god. The boundaries between the three were grey.

So, I can see where a practice such as child abuse in society became so prevalent that it took on religious significance.

Much as cults work today. What is the difference between a cult and a religion? The number of people who practice it. I can understand how Epstein Island could have become a cult with a religious component.

Evil practices can infect all aspects of society, such as religion or tradition, if it is tolerated.

Sodom and Gomorrah come to mind.

Okay; you don’t believe what the Bible says about Molech.

The pagan king-priest was a counterfeit of Melchizedek, the king of Salem (later Jerusalem). And the king-priest concept is all over the book of Revelation.

Why should I? - its an obvious been mistranslated; the mlk sound got turned around to become Molech. Nowhere else does the mlk sound mean Molech.

The 1917 JPS Tanakh renders the name “Molech”. And these are not in and of themselves Hebrew names, but transliterations from other languages. So what got “mistranslated” from what?

The 1917 JPS Tanakh renders the name “Molech”. And these are not in and of themselves Hebrew names, but transliterations from other languages. So what got “mistranslated” from what?

Of course a Bible site is going to reference the name as Moloch, but that has nothing to do with the translation of the written name: mlk from Ugarit or Canaanite or Phoenicio-Punic; all of which preceded the translations of the Bible from Aramaic or Hebrew, to Latin to Old English to Middle English to modern English - take your pick of which language got it wrong and when.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moloch
“Since 1935 scholars have debated whether the term (mlk) instead refers to a type of sacrifice on the basis of a similar term, also spelled as mlk, used to mean “sacrifice” in the Punic language. This second position has grown increasingly popular but remains contested. Among proponents of this second position, controversy continues as to whether the sacrifices were offered to Yahweh or another deity, and whether they were a native Israelite religious custom or a Phoenician import.

“The notion that Moloch refers to a deity has been challenged for several reasons. Moloch is rarely mentioned in the Bible, is not mentioned at all outside of it, and connections to other deities with similar names are uncertain. Moreover, it is possible that some of the supposed deities named Mlk are epithets for another god, given that mlk can also mean “king”. The Israelite rite conforms, on the other hand, to the Punic mlk rite in that both involved the sacrifice of children. None of the proposed gods Moloch could be identified with is associated with human sacrifice, the god Mlk of Ugarit appears to have only received animal sacrifice, and the mlk sacrifice is never offered to a god name Mlk but rather to another deity.”

Trying to undermine the Bible using Wikipedia and their left-wing sources, on a pro-God website? Have a nice day.

I’m not much of a true believer when it comes to the picky points of biblical literalness - especially considering original Christianity was thrown out in 325 AD. I’ll stick with the old testaments like The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Mary, The Book of Ezekiel, etc all of which read and sound more like real people relating real events that the picked over, turned upside down NT books and important omitted OT books. You fare well.

IOW, they don’t sound like they were inspired.

What is this that you call “original Christianity” and what are its doctrines?

Do you believe in The God creator? Or are you a multi-god believer/? As a corollary, do you believe Holy Men of God spoke as they were moved by the Spirit of The God?
