The CDC has finally bowed to reality, acknowledging that there is no reason for vaccinated people to wear masks indoors, let alone outdoors. Call me cynical, but my guess is the polling has gone South on mask mandates. People have had enough. Next thing you know, Joe Biden will take off his mask to celebrate his administration’s great victory over the coronavirus. Must have been those vaccines Biden was so instrumental in developing.
As Scott reported this morning, Minnesota’s proto-fascist governor, Tim Walz, has revoked his state’s mask mandate. His declared state of emergency remains in place, although no one can explain wherein the emergency lies. He just likes power.
Similarly, in South Carolina, where I am vacationing at the moment, the governor issued an executive order prohibiting county or local governments in the state from enforcing covid-related local mask mandates.
This leaves stores, bars, restaurants and other facilities in the position of deciding whether to stop requiring patrons to wear masks. I assume most of them will, soon. Today I had the happy experience of walking into a restaurant in Charleston and seeing that the people working there were not masked, nor were any of the customers. And one of my daughters reports having lunch today in a mask-free restaurant in Minnesota.....

Masks seem to be slowly going away - seen a lot of those blue ones just tossed on the ground.

Even here in California, the land of the ultra-Karen, people this morning have all but given up the masks, at least at the local diner we had breakfast at.
The crowd was especially jovial, and it looked like tips were running well north of 20%. It did seem to be an older crowd than before the ‘Rona, and yeah, we did evesdrop on some other tables and it seemed that people were mostly on the more conservative side of the spectrum. Perhaps the Karens just stayed home, and the Boomers were just being left alone to do their own thing.
Don’t know if this is going to last.

As of two days ago, I’m done with the damn mask anywhere indoors here (Colorado). I don’t want to disrespect any business owner but I want to see how long until someone says otherwise. Teens and proggies here are mask obsessed. Someone needs to lead the way. So far, so good.

My wife and I are 80+ and most of our siblings and friends are close. Most of us are vaccinated.
It was amazing how many of our vaccinated age group wanted to go into a restaurant, sit down and order breakfast or lunch.
Most of us have been doing things unmasked with our relatives and friends since our vaccinations .
Yesterday, my wife and I played Bridge with some good friends, of course without masks.

In my county the mask mandate was dropped weeks ago. I went to lunch today at an old favorite place, where they were still requiring a mask. I won’t be back.
Oh, but have you seen the cute little yoga pants, t-shirts, and sun dresses that come with matching masks in the stores?
