Gene doesn’t drink, he doesn’t do drugs and a lie detector test he took on live television some years back supported his fidelity to his girlfriend/wife of 30+ years (seems he lied about his boasts of bedding over 5,000 women).
So, vulgar lyrics and rockstar lifestyle aside, he doesn’t seem like too bad of a guy. I’ve met worse in church...
Did I forget to mention he took his Ma to synagogue on a regular basis?
With song lyrics like “Heaven’s on Fire” and “set the demons free and watch them fly” he’s hardly a role model of Tebow’s class, much less a great spokesperson for Christian values. As I said, hopefully he’s moving beyond his past, but until he’s more outspoken about his possible repentance his penchant for simply gathering attention can’t be ignored.
Whatever his public persona, Gene is a decent family man.
We used to see him sitting in the bleachers with the rest of us watching our daughters play in volleyball tournaments in Southern California, back in the day.
