The Klan was purpose-built as a fraternal organization after the war for ex-Confederate soldiers. It has nothing to do with the nonexistent Confederacy or Confederate soldiers in the Confederate Army.
The author later got around to that here: “In Pulaski, Tennessee, a group of Confederate veterans convenes to form a secret society that they christen the “Ku Klux Klan.” The KKK rapidly grew from a secret social fraternity to . . .” To something else.
It is a small point, but why not get it right?
Thank you, but I’m also familiar with the various websites on Klan (and Civil War) history and even they don’t necessarily state the year as 1865...such as..... 1866 The Ku Klux Klan is founded: (https://www.thoughtco.com/the-ku-klux-klan-history-721444).
Now that you have educated me, I have no other reason to converse with you so have a good night. :-)
How does Biden and company get away with saying Republicans are racist Jim Crow. It's because Conservatives are busy arguing whether the KKK started on Christmas or not. They call us NAZI's because they don't know that NAZI's are socialists. The same party that calls Republicans racist KKK'ers goes uncorrected because we are to stupid to tell them their own history.
