Opportunities to congratulate CNN for getting things right don’t often present themselves, so they shouldn’t pass unremarked. On his Saturday show, Michael Smerconish did yeoman’s work dismantling the myth of one social justice martyr while exposing the ignorance of another.
Colin Kaepernick, former QB-turned-lefty gadfly, recently took up the cause of Mumia Abu-Jamal a former Black Panther serving a life sentence for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. Mumia has maintained his innocence, and gullible (or ruthless) left-wingers have been calling for Mumia’s release for decades. He was surely framed and railroaded by a racist system, they’ve argued. Kaepernick has lent his woke celebrity appeal to the effort, recording a video in which he repeats Mumia’s lies and calls for his release.
Smerconish who, along with Officer Faulkner’s widow, wrote “Murdered by Mumia,” a book about the case, isn’t having it. On show, he thoroughly dismantled Kapernick’s arguments. After a nod to Kaepernick’s self-invented status as a free-speech martyr, Smerconish admitted he doesn’t know an awful lot about football. Addressing Kaepernick directly, he said, “And might I suggest that when it comes to Mumia Abu-Jamal, you are similarly out of your depth.”

The America-hating left has gotten their hero Mumia off of Death Row. The next step is out of jail entirely.
They’ll put him on a postage stamp before this is over.
Who knows, maybe Scranton Joe will pardon him.
By law one must be dead for five years to be depicted on U.S. Postage. I would welcome a Wesley Cook stamp in 2025, assuming it depicts him strapped to a gurney. With Colin Kaepernick on the one next to him.
He is an attorney, and he convicted George Zimmerman the day the story broke based on an the recorded phone call to the police that was played on the news feed..

I called in many times just to tweak him on guns.
He’s just pissed because Krapernick contradicted his book.

HOWEVER, he established himself advocating for Maureen Faulkner AND dismantling the lies Mumia supporters have used.

On his WPHT show, Mikey would not let you say a negative thing about Hilary Clinton, and he hitched his wagon big time to Jim McGreevey.
My impression was that Smerconish thought McGreevey might be his ticket to a national audience.......and then........... McGreevey’s fall from grace.
The one constant with him has been his unwavering support of Danny Faulkner, and in particular, his widow, Maureen Faulkner. Kudos to him for that.

No doubt about it - Mike was always a closet liberal - and did eventually go all out for the liberal causes. BUT he is from Philly and he also has common sense and he knows what Mumia was and did. He certainly is left but not that left to support anything to do with Mumia.

Smerconish endorsed Obama in 2008 claiming that the GOP became too extreme for his sensibilities.
Yep, back in the day before Trump shone the light, jerks like him abounded. Lostened to his shownall the time. Seems like a completely different planet we were on.

Egghead scored an interview with Obomba, and that's what allowed him to advance into the big time Fake News arena, culminating in his CNN gig.
You've got to be going back to the early 2000s.
And even then, he was only pretending. He was an Arlen Specter stooge.
