CNN breezes past Fox News

Tuesday night saw Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham finish in the top 5 of all cable TV shows as conservatives stand by them. But the rest of the Fox News schedule trailed. CNN held 12 of the top 17 shows on cable all day, according to Show Buzz Daily.

That meant from noon to midnight, no CNN show was out of the top 17 -- out of all shows on cable.

A week after spiking the ball for Biden, Fox is losing to the worst network in TV history.

Well, everyone on cable is.

And to be fair, the best MSNBC could do was see Rachel Maddow finish No. 24. The ratings are based on adults under 50.

It all turned around on Election Night when Chris Stirewalt called Arizona for Biden, but refused to call Ohio or Texas alleging that they were too close to call. A week later other outlets still had not called Arizona while President Donald John Trump romped in Ohio and Texas, carrying those states by 8 and 6 points respectively.

The Los Angeles Times reported, "CNN averaged 5.941 million viewers and Fox News Channel 5.726 million for its prime-time programming between Nov. 2 and Sunday, according to live-plus-same-day figures released Tuesday by Nielsen.

Fox News Channel had been the most-watched cable network 40 of the previous 41 weeks."

Only NBC bested CNN and that came because of Sunday Night Football which raised its 7-day average to 6.33 million viewers.

Fox dropped like a rock as it fell from a record 14.158 million viewers on Election Night to under 3 million on Saturday night as it showed the Biden victory super spreader just like CNN and MSNBC -- who drew 9 million and 6 million viewers, respectively.

Conservative rivals are circling.

The Blaze reported, "Fox News has had to weather numerous incidents that have caused many of their previous fans to seek alternative news outlets, including the YouTube channel of BlazeTV host Steven Crowder.

"Fox News was excoriated by allies and supporters of the president after they called the state of Arizona early on Election Day before any other news outlets. When pressured by online outrage to change their call, Chris Wallace said that the Fox News decision desk would not waiver in its decision to call the state. Biden currently holds a lead of just over 11,000 votes in the state.

"On Monday, an off-air video of a Fox News host condescendingly dismissing comments about the election call from a guest surfaced on social media and fueled more outrage.

"President Donald Trump has also criticized Fox News many times over his term, often when they don't give him what he perceives to be the best coverage."

Newsmax is getting some attention. Emily VanDerWerff of Vox reported, "My two days watching Newsmax, the network waging war on Fox News from the right."

Her story said, "The network is gambling that it can win a larger audience of Trump fans by parroting the Trump campaign argument that the election isn’t settled until the Electoral College meets in December, and anything can happen until then, and anyway, there was a ton of fraud, didn’t you know? (I contacted Newsmax on Monday to ask for their reasoning for not calling the election and have yet to hear back. But all of the reasons I just cited are ones it has presented on air.)

"And at a time when the president has lost affection for Fox News, it just might work."

The president is not the only one who bailed on Fox.

In the short term, Fox News is still doing well, buoyed by its casual viewers. We will see in a month or two just what the actual damage among the network's hard core viewers.

But for now, CNN has breezed past Fox in non-prime time audiences. If it is apathy taking its toll, that's not a problem. If it is OANN and other rivals, Fox needs damage control.

15 Oct: Daily Beast: Rupert Murdoch Predicts a Landslide Win for Biden
THE GREAT OZ HAS SPOKEN
The Australian mogul is disgusted by Trump’s handling of COVID-19, remarking that the president is his own worst enemy and telling associates “people are ready for Sleepy Joe.”
by Lachlan Cartwright
The Australian-born billionaire is disgusted by Trump’s handling of COVID-19, remarking that the president is his own worst enemy, that he is not listening to advice about how best to handle the pandemic, and that he’s creating a never-ending crisis for his administration, according to three people who have spoken with Murdoch.
In response to an email inquiry for this report asking him if he believes Biden will win in a landslide and his thoughts on Trump’s handling of coronavirus, Murdoch responded, “No comment except I’ve never called Trump an idiot,” referring to a 2018 report that the media mogul called the president a “f**king idiot” following a chat about immigration.

While Murdoch believes the outcome of the election is a fait accompli, his New York tabloid has been doing everything in its power to help Trump’s re-election chances, publishing a screaming page 1 story on Wednesday under the headline, “Biden Secret E-Mails.” The supposed “smoking gun” emails purported to show that Hunter Biden had introduced his father to a Ukrainian businessman when he was vice president, though the Post relied on unverified documents given to them by Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani...

At one point in the winter, as Murdoch grew increasingly frustrated with Trump, he even considered getting behind another Democratic candidate, having discussions about supporting Mike Bloomberg in his ill-fated presidential run, a Murdoch executive told The Daily Beast.
In the run-up to the 2016 election, Murdoch twice tweeted his support for a Bloomberg run.
But he is now firmly of the mindset that the next president will be Biden, telling one associate, “after all that has gone on, people are ready for Sleepy Joe.”...

It has been a tumultuous year for the Murdoch family, with youngest son, James, and his wife, Kathryn, unleashing an extraordinary public attack on Fox News and News Corp over their coverage of the deadly Australian wildfires.
“Kathryn and James’ views on climate are well established and their frustration with some of the News Corp and Fox coverage of the topic is also well known,” a spokesperson for the couple told The Daily Beast in January...

While the elder Murdoch has dialed back his workload, he is taking a keen interest in a secretive new TV news channel being developed in the U.K. by former CBS News chief David Rhodes (BROTHER OF BEN RHODES, OBAMA’S DEPUTY NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR FOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS), who has been tipped as a future head of Fox News, a network where he served as vice president of news.
People familiar with the project, which is expected to launch early in the new year, remain tight-lipped about its content, giving rise to speculation it will be a watered-down Fox News-style opinion-led platform to take audience share away from the BBC...

The question that continues to be asked is how Fox News and its prime-time stars, who have gone all out for Trump, will react to the Nov. 3 verdict and who the Murdochs look to back in 2024, with insiders talking up the prospect of one of their own—Tucker Carlson—making a run for the White House...

26 Jan 2016: Breitbart: The Anti-Trump Network: Fox News Money Flows into Open Borders Group
by Julia Hahn
The announcement from Donald Trump’s campaign that the Republican frontrunner will “definitely not” partake in Thursday night’s Fox News debate has sent shock waves throughout the nation’s political scene.
At a press event Tuesday evening, Trump seemed to cite disparate treatment from the network as his reasoning for not participating. “What’s wrong over there, something’s wrong,” Trump said of the “games” Roger Ailes and the network are “playing.”

In asking the question of “what’s wrong over there?” Trump has shined a spotlight on one of Washington’s best kept secrets: namely, Fox’s role via its founder Rupert Murdoch in pushing an open borders agenda. The Trump campaign is a direct threat to Murdoch’s efforts to open America’s borders. Well-concealed from virtually all reporting on Fox’s treatment of Trump is the fact that Murdoch is the co-chair of what is arguably one of the most powerful immigration lobbying firms in country, the Partnership for a New American Economy (PNAE).

In addition to blanketing the country, media, and politicians with literature, advertisements, and a barrage of lobbyists pushing for open border immigration policies, the Partnership for A New American Economy (PNAE) was a prime lobbyist for one of the biggest open borders pushes in American history: Marco Rubio’s 2013 Gang of Eight immigration bill...

While Megyn Kelly made headlines with her heated questioning of Donald Trump, not one of the Fox News anchors asked Rubio in the first Fox News debate about his signature piece of legislation, which Murdoch’s immigration lobbying firm had endorsed. Instead, they lobbed Rubio a series of softballs, such as asking Rubio if he could put God and veterans in the same sentence.
Interestingly, Bill Sammon — FOX News’s vice president of News and Washington managing editor — is the father of Brooke Sammon, who is Rubio’s press secretary...

Sen. Rubio introduced legislation last year — the Immigration Innovation Act — which would have tripled H-1B visa issuances. This legislation was endorsed by Murdoch via the Partnership for a New American Economy, on whose board also sits Disney CEO Bob Iger...

As any casual viewer of Fox News would observe, one sees scant to any coverage at all on the record-setting, foreign-born population inside the United States; nor coverage of census findings that immigration is about to surpass all historical records; nor stories on the total number of immigrants allowed into the country each year and the strain this number puts on education, the economy, the welfare states and the profound changes to U.S. culture. By not covering these issues in any real depth, it helps clear the way for the enactment of the Murdoch-backed immigration agenda — bringing in the New American Century hoped for by Rupert Murdoch, Marco Rubio, and Barack Obama.
