Joe Biden suggests police officers be trained to de-escalate situations involving dangerous suspects by shooting them in the leg.
The Democratic presidential nominee made the controversial contention during a Thursday town hall moderated by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulus.
Rather than shoot to kill in self-defense, Biden proposed wounding them instead.

On TV and in movies Biden saw private detectives and officers
hit the fleshy outside part of a man’s shin or the edge of muscle on the outer side of the shoulder. While running and dodging gunfire and avoiding hitting bystanders.

Not even a center chest shot guarantees that the threat will be neutralized. A leg wound would guarantee that it wouldn’t.
In a Sacketts movie Tom Selleck’s character was asked if the friend who had just made it through a bloody gun battle involving about a dozen men was going to die. He had a strip of cloth holding back blood loss from a bad leg wound.
“Naw,” he answered, spitting tobacco. “He ain’t gonna die. He’s too damn mean.”
