It does affect calcium metabolism. That’s why I look for a D3 supplement which contains vitamin K. Vitamin K helps with getting the calcium to the right places in the body. Vitamin K is found in green vegetables like Spinach. Too much vitamin K can cause the blood to coagulate too well.

Which is potentially a problem with COVID associated intravascular clotting events

Vitamin K2 is the vitamin associated with getting the calcium into the right places. It is a fat-soluble vitamin. Found in butter from grass fed cows, eggs, hard cheeses some fermented foods.

Vitamin K1 is the one most associated with blood clotting, and is found in vegetables like spinach.

Source: Vitamin k2 and the Calcium Paradox-How a little known vitamin could save your life (an interesting book that I read):

From the Amazon description:

“The secret to avoiding calcium-related osteoporosis and atherosclerosis While millions of people take calcium and Vitamin D supplements thinking they’re helping their bones, the truth is, without the addition of Vitamin K2, such a health regimen could prove dangerous.

Without Vitamin K2, the body cannot direct calcium to the bones where it’s needed; instead, the calcium resides in soft tissue (like the arteries)—leading to a combination of osteoporosis and atherosclerosis, or the dreaded “calcium paradox.”
