I talked with a guy who was in prison in China during Mao’s famine (he had been in the Koumintang Army, fighting the communists).

He said that every morning, they had a formation, and were inspected. Those who had wasted away to the point where the inspector’s fist could easily pass between their thighs while they stood at attention, were moved to a separate area for the dying. Some left almost every day.

ThAt soybean total sounds way off. Also there’s been thousands of tons sold to “ unknown “. Some say China is stockpiling for some reason.

Three Gorges Dam held. The peak of their Monsoon Season is the end of July/beginning of August. The tail of the Season is wrapping up now. They are more concerned now with the seasonal challenge of maintaining enough water behind the dam for electrical generation through the dry Winter (not a problem this year).

When the rains were heaviest though, they had to release huge floodwaters downstream, to protect the dam. More than a million acres of crops were lost, including a main rice crop, and orchards that will take years to restore.

Having assets to sell doesn’t increase the total amount of food available.

A lot of soybeans are used as animal feed for their pork production - it’s their staple meat.

If the food supply gets really bad they will announce that food security is national security and start arresting farmers and other suppliers.

I truly believe there hasn’t been a more brutal and murderous dictatorship than that of the ChiComs.

Truly evil from the pit of hell.

Having assets allows you to outbid poorer folks, for the available food.

Worse than North Korea?

Worse than Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot.

Worse than the USSR under Stalin/Lenin? Land of the Gulag Archipelago?

Time for our farmers to earn some more money on the backs of the CCP. Wonder if Comrade James is going to COSTA and buying 25 pound bags of rice and other essentials and shipping them to his masters in China?

Ruined crops in China. Locusts across Africa and Eastern Asia.

The next six months are going to pressure our food stocks.

Get ready for another USA for Africa go-round.

Their reserve stock of frozen pork has dwindled by over 80% since this time a year ago. Estimates are four to six weeks supply remaining. Much is likely being diverted to storage directly under government supervision.

With all due respect I don’t think there are that poor people in China anymore. If China would have a shortage of food they’d buy it internationally like they already did.
