This could be a double edged sword. It could inspire more of the conservative base to support Trump but that base was already pretty well motivated. However it could also inspire a lot of disgruntled dems and Bernie bros who might have stayed home rather than vote for Biden because they won’t want Trump to choose the next SC justice.
If Trump doesn’t get a nominee approved, they may be inspired to vote so that they take the opportunity away from him. But if he DOES get one approved, they may be disheartened because they know that a constitutionalist court will shut down any of their shenanigans.
It could go either way.
There can’t be a Rat-selected SCOTUS pick unless Biden is inaugurated. No way is he going to win on Nov 3, IMHO, so no way is he going to be inaugurated on Jan 20.
This means “who won?” cannot be decided by a 4-4 SCOTUS unless Roberts flips to the Rats, and he won’t.
Of course; in politics it is generally just that.
However, not this time, at least for Trump. Tuco's Law clearly applies in this case.
By sending over the nomination he is fulfilling a campaign promise; to do otherwise would be a betrayal. Then it will in the hands of the R politicians, including those that are marginal, and the never-Trumpers.
