Purdue University now considers failure to wash hands, properly social distance, and getting a flu vaccination equally as severe and "in the same category" as academic dishonesty, drug distribution, and destruction of university property.
On August 19, Purdue University announced that students found violating the Protect Purdue Pledge would be subject to disciplinary action under the same guidelines as hazing and drug use.
Additionally, hosting or attending a party could get students suspended or expelled.
Organizing and/or hosting, either individually or with others, an event, party or other gathering (Event) or attending such an event, where the attendees are not required to, or willfully fail or refuse to, adhere to the requirements of the Protect Purdue Pledge, or of state or local public health laws, regulations or orders, including but not limited to the requirements of maintaining appropriate social distancing (6 feet based on current public health guidance) and wearing an appropriate face mask. This applies to events that are organized and/or held on or off campus," the announcement says.
The announcement states that these actions are now "listed in the same category as academic dishonesty, hazing, possession and distribution of drugs, and destruction of university property."...

If I were a student at Purdue and wanted to join in on said wrecking, I would argue I should not be subject to harsh discipline because I at least was wearing a mask while doing it and didn't do something horrible, like go to a keg party.
It’s not about the “pandemic” hoax.
It’s about control.
Teach them to obey.
It will make it much easier to herd them into the ovens when the time comes.
After covid, I could see democrats try to pass permanent “social distancing” and mask laws.
another university displays ignorance. Am not surprised, regrettably
Perdue University is trying to become Perdone University.
I would be yanking my kid out of there at the end of the semester; but wouldn’t tell them until I had refund in hand for the next semester. If I was an alum and donor . . . .they already saw the last dime from me.
I would be mild in my criticism of Purdue on this one. Purdue was one of the first major universities to announce their intention to open up for Fall 2020. Their move has pressured many other universities to open up.
As a result, Purdue has a giant target on its back. Every academic egghead across the country who wanted to keep universities closed across the country until the election is hoping for Purdue to fail:

Unfortunately, the media is measuring failure by COVID-19 cases, not by deaths or hospitalizations, and Purdue is under great pressure to keep the total number of cases down.
well since the left wanna legalize all drugs- what’s the problem?
Coming soon: Of course I killed him officer. He was closer to me than 6 feet. I was just protecting myself. Clearly justifiable homicide.
“Purdue University considers failure to social distance ‘in the same category’ as drug dealing”
Universities have morphed from institutes of higher learning into propaganda centers for the Leftists and hideouts for morons.
Why the heck is any student even returning to these places? Theyve destroyed the whole classroom and dorm (social) experience, much of it will be on-line anyway, and now youll get blackmarks for doing normal stuff...black marks that will follow you for the rest of your academic career and onto your job applications.
Young people are bankrupting their families and mortgaging their futures by paying for this totally useless parody of education. Just stay home, get a job, learn a trade, and finish your degree on-line. Or dont. Steve Jobs didnt have a degree.
Hilarious, coming from a school whose mascot is a “Boilermaker”.
I never imagined the university I attended for my MA in history would show so much idiocy. I remember a few years ago, there was politically correct decision and I decided requests for donations were only worthy of file 13. They do burn nicely when I take out the paper trash.
As a Purdue engineering graduate, but from a long time ago, I find it hard to believe that the Engineering students are not socially distancing. In general, it is in their nature to practice social distancing even without the wuhan CCP virus nonsense.
Did former Gov. Mitch Daniels retire as Pres. of Purdue ? He wouldn’t allow this.
He’s still Prez....and folded on football, too, so far.
Say it ain’t so.
“it is in their nature to practice social distancing “
LOL. I got accepted to Purdue’s school of engineering but ended up go to IU cuz I would have more fun. (17 yo don’t always make the best decisions!)
Put masks on the dogs. Humiliate them in public. Show them who is boss.
It is sad that a once great university with one of the premier engineering programs in the USA has gone wokey-dopey at the level of the president (present dink) of the university.
