My understanding is that the drive alone was more than 90 minutes because of the route they would’ve had to take. Operational security for the President of the United States would’ve been compromised easily. It became a no-go situation.

Yes. When hubby took the ride there, from Paris, it was a rainy/soggy day, and it took ALL of 90 mins, each way.

Can you imagine the operational security detail for POTUS if they hadn’t scratched the drive? The military and the Secret Service made the right call. Trump would’ve been there if he could’ve been there, and I KNOW that about our President!

POTUS reiterated, at today’s presser, that he WANTED to be there, that this was a main reason for his trip.
