You’re right, of course, but cops standing around laughing at a naked, restrained man puts a spin on the whole thing that sure doesn’t help. Can grown cops act like professional adults, instead of 14 year old boys, who think everything, especially other’s misery, is funny?

The cops put a hood on him because he would not stop spitting at them.

Neither have I, but I would think a simple surgical mask would work. At least you could see the rest of the face, which would indicate if he was having trouble breathing.
When I was a yute, my friend and I were in my car, drunk, and ran out of gas in the small town that the President is visiting today, Latrobe, PA.
When the cops came my mouth got in front of what little brain I had left and they took us to the lock up.
That wasn't enough for me, I continued to run my mouth, until I found out how brutal 18" of rubber hose could be.
The magistrate gave me a $50 fine or 5 days and since I was broke, my dad said, do the 5 days.
It was a very good, long lasting experience {and when I got out, my dad beat the hell out of me, worse than the cops}.
It wouldn't happen today, but it should, both the cop and dad beatings left a definite impression.
It was all good.
You would think that by now, after all that has happened, all cops would know that.

Also, don’t take PCP and walk around naked in March while in NY. The chances of a confrontation with the police skyrocket.
I agree, all of this should be talked about in the courts with full and truthful evidence. If the cops are found guilty or not, that shouldn’t be driven by anger.

A very long time because a lot of politicians with below average intelligence are making a good living expressing sympathy with the grieving families of these dead drug users.
You must also take in to consideration that it is much easier to blame others for your problems than to take responsibility for your own failings.
Does the brother face murder charges as well as the officers since he called them into the fray in the first place? Or was the victim a sacrificial lamb to make money off of?

A surgical mask would come off too easily. A spit hood is fine mesh and you can see through it well enough to monitor the person wearing it. Their spit clings to the inside — it’s kinda gross. But it keeps the blood and saliva off of me!
Agreed it might be that these officers need to find another line of work. You are a public official and you must act like one. This however is nowhere near a race based issue.

I agree completely! How are there so many immature cops out there? I’ve lived in other countries and never saw this sort of behavior from police. It is embarrassing, as an American to have this broadcast around the world.
