I don’t get that. Why wouldn’t they vote in their home towns?

I am convinced that they do.

They vote absentee in their hometowns, and in person where they attend school.

What happens in college towns is that democrat campus organizers register tons of students to vote and then get them out at the campus polling places in droves. They register out-of-state students to vote In places like Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Iowa, etc. So, for example, the thousands of Maryland kids that go to Penn State would register to vote in Pennsylvania instead of Maryland. Democrats do this tactic all over the place. New Hampshire is a state with same-day registration where campus organizers can get thousands of college kids, many of whom are out of state, to vote in New Hampshire.

Let me expand upon my previous response regarding college students (now that I have a computer instead of an iPhone to type on). Penn State is located in Centre County. Clinton defeated Trump in Centre County by 48% to 46% in 2016. In the counties that surround Penn State and Centre County, Trump beat Clinton by roughly 70/30. While there are many liberal professors, etc. that permanently live in the county, the bulk of the pro-Clinton vote came from Penn State students. The Democrats do a great job of organizing on-campus. They register out of state students to vote at Penn State. They get PA natives to register at Penn State also and get them out of their dorm rooms to the polls. Since March, the students at Penn State have been sent home. Therefore, there have been no registration drives on campus since March, resulting in Republican out-registering Democrats in Centre County by a large number this year. Less (or no) students on campus means less Pennsylvania votes for Biden. U. of Penn. is an Ivy League school and will be all distance-learning in the Fall, etc. The Dems will probably lose 50K plus votes minimum from the drop-off in college students voting in PA.
