The approach that VDH took was different than other books on the subject for which there are hundreds of good ones. The success of this book is how it incorporates the big picture of economics, manufacturing, and strategic thinking.
There are numerous lectures available on YouTube by VDH on the second world wars.

I highly recommend the lecture on Patton (America’s Ajax) as he remains the most interesting figure of WWII for me - a man born for a moment in time who could not flourish otherwise due to his personality.
I also find the thoughts of VDH highly relevant to our current strategic picture - manufacturing, strong economy, technology, etc.
