You are so right about solutions being one child at a time. I taught for a number of years, including in an inner city parochial high school. It is truly heartbreaking to see these young people age 15 or 16 reading at a first grade level. I was supposed to teach them science but they were in most cases functionally illiterate. Math was even worse. I did my best to teach them something useful, but most of my students would have needed several years of tutoring and remedial work to bring them up to a reasonable standard. Instead they were passed along and ultimately most went to college somewhere on scholarship where they either washed out or were socially promoted.
Yep. Money and government programs solve nothing by themselves. Love and individual care is what is needed. Known for thousands of years but it seems evil would have us believe otherwise. God bless!
