Got hotdogs for tonight, and hot sauce to put on them. I grew up in Rochester, NY, and there used to be a restaurant called “Don & Bob’s.” They sold white hots, red hots, ground rounds, fries, onion rings...all sorts of stuff. You put your order in, and waited for it to be up. It didn’t take long because they were always busy, and always had dogs and burgers ready on the grill. They made their own hot sauce. When I moved away, I used to make sure I stopped there to buy a quart of it to go, then I’d split it up in plastic containers, and freeze it. The place closed down many years ago, but someone was kind enough to put the recipe in the Rochester newspaper, and my sister cut it out and sent it to me. I now make my own, using that recipe. This is the last container of sauce I had in my freezer, so I’ll be making another batch very soon.
