My issue with Mattis goes back more than a decade ago when he turned his back to the Haditha Marines. He’s a political POS in my book. And you’ve just cited recent examples of his priorities.

I can’t speak to his combat integrity, but as a political player, he’s a reckless disgrace.

To my knowledge Mattis has never been in real combat. He commanded a Marine regiment in the First Gulf War which ended before his unit was really involved. In Iraq , he was in a position of high command. He had enough power in Iraq to intervene to see that there was a honest review of the Haditha business. To my knowledge, hhe said nothing at all about the Oboma ROE’s in which uniformed lawyers attempted to turn the Army and Marines into woke police officers. BTW, it was at that point I started to recommend that decent young people NOT enlist in any branch of service or NG or Reserves. That was something that after more than 30 years being in the military and working for the armed services, that was a big change.
