The method of appointment does not affect the right of a President to fire anyone whose position is one that serves at the pleasure of the President.

And if it does, fire somebody else. That’s what Obama did. Conservatives barely had time to get worked up about one outrage before he was on to the next one. After a few weeks - or even days - the previous one was forgotten.
