After the recent riots which saw multiple large stores looted, some retailers are having second thoughts about remaining in certain cities.
In Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been talking to these retailers and asking them not to leave the city.
Not only do these companies make it possible for residents to get the things they need, they pay tons of taxes which the city relies on.
WBBM News reports:
TRENDING: Chicago Mayor Now Pleading With Walmart And Other Companies Not To Leave The City
Mayor Lightfoot Pleads With Walmart, Other Retailers To Not Abandon Chicago
Mayor Lightfoot said shes hopeful major retailers will reopen the Chicago stores that were looted or otherwise damaged during protests surrounding George Floyds killing by police in Minnesota. But, shes unsure of one of the biggest.
Mayor Lightfoot said she was on a conference call with Walmart and other major retailers that had stores looted or heavily damaged during the unrest in Chicago. She said she pleaded with them to not abandon Chicago.
“I think in the case of Walmart, what they were focused on was assessing the damage. They are doing an effort to donate fresh produce, to the extent of what’s left so it doesn’t perish, and other perishables, and they are taking their time, as I would expect.”
Who can blame these companies if they leave the cities?
The same thing is happening in Minneapolis:
The cities hit by riots will be damaged by it for a long time.

Interesting....
So the insurance money shows up.
You cut the BLM etc a check and say you support them...
Then you pocket the rest, don’t come back.
Not a bad plan.

This needs to be negotiated.
Stores will stay if rioting reduced by 75 percent; the shoot-down of people in the streets must be reduced to a manageable number. Say less than 20 per week.

My guess is that more probably goes out a a Shitcago Walmart not paid for that paid for.

And if Walmart comes back, Mayor Lightfoot added, I pledge that they will never be looted again. And by that I mean no more than twice a year.

The late, great Earl Nightingale (Lead the Field, The Strangest Secret) said many people metaphorically sit in a cold room by the wood stove and say “Give me some heat.” Others go out and chop wood, put it in the stove and light it, and the stove gives them heat.
If the violent thugs of Chicagoland would act in a civil manner and not loot and burn down enterprises, then the people who risk capital to provide them with stores would build there.
For decades the City of Detroit had no supermarkets and then not long ago they celebrated the building of one or two in the entire city! All of the major owners decided they were not going to laugh off millions of dollars in merchandise looted and burned, and incredible amounts of daily shoplifting even if not burned down. Not worth it. All invested in the suburbs instead. Logical. It’s not a charity or a penance to be in a city of filthy Dems. It’s insanity.

Build a new Walmart with a clause that any damages done by rioters the city is responsible for.

"If you build it, they will come."
BUT
"If you burn it, they will leave."
