Well, Ray Bradbury warned us, didn’t he? Or he tried to, anyway.
As this once great land descends even further into this “check your privilege” wokescold madness, the lawless not only want to govern your actions but your thoughts as well. What so many are hailing as a transformative moment in American history is really a dystopian thought-policing nightmare.
A recurring theme in history is that the thought fascists like to tightly control what the people it seeks to oppress read. Propaganda doesn’t work well if the masses can read whatever they want. Social justice warriors have been coming after books for a while now, most often Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which Ernest Hemingway said was the launching point of modern American literature. A censored version of it was released in 2011 and even The New York Times found it problematic.
The Times would more than likely embrace the book today.
Just when you think that there couldn’t be anything more annoying than watching idiots kneel all about the place comes a post on NPR.org titled “Your Bookshelf May Be Part of the Problem.”
Some of this examination of the power of books borders on thoughtful, but two paragraphs just grated on me:
You may have seen the phrase “decolonize your bookshelf” floating around. In essence, it is about actively resisting and casting aside the colonialist ideas of narrative, storytelling, and literature that have pervaded the American psyche for so long.

I just bought a copy of Huckleberry Finn yesterday at Goodwill. Hardcover, illustrated.
It had been deemed ‘excess’ and was given to Goodwill.
I bought to to save it for the future. I was thinking of Ray Bradbury when I bought it......................

Anyone who is paying attention knows that 2020 is the All-Or-Nothing year. We’re dealing with actual Fascists. The other party isn’t “people I don’t like” — they’re Fascists.
If the Democrats get control of the White House, we lose the republic, and we won’t get it back. Emergency Powers will be declared and neither the House nor the Senate will matter. We’ve already seen Executives at the state level rule by fiat. A Democrat president will do the same. I think a hot civil war will be assured.

Some years ago, I read a book written by Derrick Bell called “Ethical Ambition-Living a Life of Meaning and Worth”
At the time, 2003-2004 I could not know he was a radical, and would become a “Friend of Barack”, and all of that, but that part of his philosophy really did not come through in his writing...at least in this book.
When I realized who, and what, he was, I sold the book for a quarter.

Is there a recommended reading list of great sub-Saharan scholars and literary giants?
I suspect that is why the Barnes and Noble stores always seem to escape the feral looting in these cities when it occurs.
When the authors of color create literature with the quality of Dickens, Dante, and Dostoyevsky, I’ll read it. Until then, I’ll stick to the classics.
I have been collecting older books for awhile...esp history..for this reason.
They don’t frighten me I can’t wait for the opportunity to dance with them.
You guys keep thinking that the folks you see in the news and on tv and on social media are really A LOT of people.
They’re not the majority. Not even close.
And I have about 20 blue collar friends who even though they are 52 like me now will do immense damage to anyone who confronts them.
There are 10s of millions of people like them.
And they play for keeps.
Let them have their silly fun and games.
They went too far and pushed their luck.
Now myself and many guys I know WANT a confrontation.
We are looking forward to it.
And they will lose badly.

We get bombarded on this site so we think this is how EVERYONE out there is thinking.

This tends to be the place where lots of people post their old textbooks anyway, but since sjws tend to look down their noses at book burners as being like Westboro Baptist Church, they may not be able to bear destroying great literature even if they don’t want their friends to see it on their bookshelves.

Yes, as I’ve said, the next time a Democrat occupies the White House, it is the end of the Republic.
