New York Times opinion writer Bari Weiss got buried by her colleagues for live-tweeting her own take on the newsroom’s work dynamic on Thursday afternoon. After the Times published a highly controversial op-ed from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) entitled “Send in the Military”, Weiss claimed the newsroom has turned into a “civil war” between the “new guard” and the “old guard.”

Eating their own.

And the 40+ liberals thought they would be in charge and command respect...

“The civil war inside The New York Times between the (mostly young) wokes the (mostly 40+) liberals is the same one raging inside other publications and companies across the country. The dynamic is always the same.”

There’s always the laudable intent of the first wave of liberals.

While we may rejoice in the astonishment and horror of that first wave as they discover the diabolical intentions of the second wave (who used the first wave as mere cannon fodder), we must understand that the intention of the second wave was to displace the first and now turn its knives on us.

Commie fight! Will someone end up with an ice axe in the back of his head like when Stalin had Trotsky killed?

I don't read the NYT, but … my first reaction is that this is an internal struggle between those who think that the purpose of an op-ed page is to offer a platform for dissenting views and broaden the perspective of the newspaper, vs. those who think the purpose of an op-ed page is to support the party line and help convey the impression that there is no alternative view that is worthy of notice.

Bari Weiss should be cultivated by people who are still willing to stand up for classical liberal values. Does she write for other publications as well? How long she can remain at the NYT will be an interesting question.

Here in Minneapolis I’m seeing the same pattern with the new ‘abolish the police’ movement. The split is more by age than by race from what I can see.

It’s the young people who have been indoctrinated by our public schools and universities that are the most in favor of abolishing the police. Older blacks tend to want more police protecting them, not less.

Abolish the police in Minneapolis? Sounds like fun! What might be just as fun would be to abolish the police in Cambridge,Massachusetts (home of Harvard and MIT).

If you think back you'll recall that Osama Obama himself once observed that "the Cambridge police acted stupidly".

Well,Cambridge is not only the home of this nation's elite and influential (when they're not "summering" on Martha's Vineyard) but it's also home to a rather large, and "financially challenged",minority community.

Perhaps the City of Cambridge would want to abolish *their* police department and,in so doing, achieve nirvana.

Let’s see if she gets “purged” from the NYT down the road. Sounds like she just lost the trust of her peers.

The police are the only thing keeping the “woke” alive.
