I came out of the specialized management side of the USAF so I was surprised at how slow things could go and still be acceptable to the government.
That reminds me of the time AlGore was running for president and he stupidly said that something that was “good enough for government work” meant it was high quality.
Whoever told him that was probably laughing their asses off when they heard him say it on TV.
“Good enough for government work” is a saying used in a lot of government contractor businesses where you can slap any old piece of crap together and sell it to the government at 10 times the price.
Us engineers in private industry would joke that a close approximation was close enough for government work.
