The difference between Boeing and SpaceX, one is a plodding corporation with your typical CEO trying to make the next quarter, the other is a lean mean machine with a kickass visionary leader.

Boeing lost not only their edge but their entire culture when they merged with McDonnell Douglas in 1997 and moved their headquarters to Chicago in 2001.

McDonnell Douglas' culture took over.
