Illinois was one of only eight states to have shut down as early as March 23. Nearly two months later, Illinois is just one of four states “to remain on lockdown, with stay-at-home orders in place and most businesses shuttered,” according to a New York Times comparison as of May 15. Michigan, New Jersey and Delaware were the other three states.
Illinois’ position has become even more extreme in recent days. Gov. Pritzker has just added new emergency rules that threaten jail time to any business owner found violating the governor’s shutdown orders.
At Wirepoints, we’ve often documented what a national outlier Illinois is fiscally. So it is, also, with Gov. Pritzker’s emergency order and reopening plan, which are beyond what nearly all other states are doing.
Thirty-one states are already reopening, while 11 other states are reopening on a regional basis. Six additional states – Connecticut, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico and Vermont – are set to reopen next week.
A separate state-to-state comparison recently released by Statista shows death rates by state per 100,000 people. Illinois has the ninth-worst COVID-19 fatality rate in the country, at 29 per 100,000 in population. New York (140), New Jersey (107), Connecticut (85) and Massachusetts (75) top the nation’s list.
Despite higher death rates than Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania are already reopening in some areas, Connecticut and Massachusetts are reopening soon, and Louisiana and Rhode Island are already fully reopening.

Waiting to see what our Governor Whitless is going to do. EO expires May 28th. Waiting to hear what the Judge will decide with Michigan Republican lawsuit as well. I have a feeling she will rule with Whitmer and it gets kicked to Michigan SC but they have a Republican majority.

This fat, stupid POS needs to be shown the door, the sooner the later. Too bad Illinois doesn't have recall otherwise I suspect he'd be gone already. I haven't met or heard from a single defender of his.

“You are all in violation of an executive order. On that note, have a good day. Everybody be safe.”
He walks away to a cheering crowd.
I’m not even sure that this is any kind of planned and organized action on the part of Democrats.
There’s a conventional wisdom that those that can’t make it in business go into government. I think we’re seeing that play out, and these little Stalinists just aren’t up to the task. They all have a very limited set of ideas, which aren’t working, at all.
I think that China thought they would be helping America’s Democrats, but overestimated their capabilities.
It’s insane. Democrats have ben running this state for more than two decades, right about three, and it’s easy to see what they’ve done with it. They are intentionally ruining our state at this point, and I have no clue why.
They might be holding out for a Democrat for President in order to get a bailout, but the tax base will be gone by then. Every few homes, even in a wealthy area like mine, have “For Sale” signs up. At least three on each block down one of our main streets.
I don’t want to get stuck here, but I’m afraid I will be. I want to leave; terribly. I just can’t afford it. I can’t afford to leave, and I can’t afford to stay.
Same with California and New York.

He of course never told anybody to shut down he just gave executive guidelines on slowing the spread first 15 days and then additional 30 and he’s left it up to the governors using federalism perfectly the entire time
We got control of this thing on April 16 one month exactly after the shut down started if you were listening closely to the news conferences that was the first one that Dr. Burks and Dr. Fauci were not out fried talking about the latest outbreak and the first talk of opening up America had started
And so now we are here another month later and this thing is really over I made over over even in New York ! everybody knows it !!!
and so all of these stupid Democrat governors they continue on trying to extend this until 2021 are going to become the laughingstock and you’re gonna piss off all of their liberal voters !!

The ‘state’ should be divided into ‘Chicago’ - a new state and Illinois - the area outside of Chicago.
