History, geography and civics...are you kidding? I remember my friends who attended public school, telling me they did no studies of these subjects. None! Several didn’t know what Thanksgiving decorations signified. They couldn’t find England (or anywhere else) on a map. Or define “civics.” This was in the years 2000-2010.
And I’m sorry to say they lost any interest and curiosity by the time they graduated. Only sports and social life mattered.
There is an Island called Gibraltar no matter what anyone cares to think about it.
That and history were my favorite subjects in school. I was excited when the teacher would pull down the map in front of the blackboard.
As you can tell it was a long time ago.
When a fifty-something wins Jeopardy then we’ll know the American education system has totally failed.
Told him a roll of toilet paper was worth more than the paper used on that ridiculous history text.
When I was in 8th grade in 2000-01, it was mandatory in IL to pass an American History exam. If you didn’t, you didn’t go to high school.
It’s safe to assume that this is no longer the case.
Whose version?
They know all about condoms.
That is why we need to watch CNN and MSNBC!
NAEP: 8th-graders' scores drop in US history, geography, math, science, English, and everything else.
The libtards’ control of the public school system is working as planned. The dumbing down of the population to make them more malleable D voters continues apace! Is anyone doing anything about this? Perhaps the homeschoolers who were doing it before COVID.
When did Gibraltar become an island? Did the Brits recently cut it away from the mainland to make it harder for the Spanish to attack?
Brain is kind of foggy today as you no doubt can tell.
I think trying to regain Gibraltar was the main reason why Spain came into the War for American Independence. France had pledged not to make peace with Britain before Spain did which could have created a problem for the US because we were pledged not to make a separate peace (the preliminary peace treaty of 1782 would not take effect until France also made peace) but eventually the Spanish recognized reality and agreed to make peace.
“Everyone needs to understand the world around us and our role in it.”
tough to do that when you don’t even know where you are on the map
that douche should be fired
of course, they want to avoid history and geography as it helps push the one-world-order.
you can’t defend a border when you have no idea where it is (geography)... or why (history)
