Food Banks Can’t Go On Like This

...Facing Hunger Foodbank in West Virginia used to serve about 129,000 people on a typical day. Its executive director, Cynthia D. Kirkhart, witnessed the same sharp rise in demand after her state issued its stay-at-home order. Then the retail donations that the food bank receives from partners such as Walmart and Kroger shrank by roughly 90 percent, and delivery times for purchased food grew from a week to eight or 10 weeks. “Between March 30 and April 8, I placed orders in excess of $487,000 for food, and some of it won’t be arriving until late June, but at least I’ll have a regular influx coming in,” she told me. “My total budget for this year was about $500,000. My reworked budget is going to look more like $1.2 million to $1.5 million, and that’s with an optimistic outlook for what happens with this pandemic and how long we are in recovery.”...

A friend of mine texted me that starvation was coming. He suggested I prep. I told him I already had to a certain degree.

Make of this what you will.

I went to WalMart tonight. The meat aisle (a wall of cooled displays) was nearly empty. Still.

This has been pretty much true since this recent thing began a couple months ago.

The eggs, orange juice, frozen goods all seemed to be back at normal levels. Produce never really ran short though bell peppers, other than green, seem to be out all of the time.

Of course the others mature from green, so they have to sit longer.

I was seriously warning about a crash from late 2005 to summer of 2008. Virtually no one listened and it was worse than I imagined. Especially for me.

When the next one comes, and it WILL come, I expect many people still won’t have 3 days of food on hand. And this thing didn’t make it any easier.

As we know, all of the nations are in serious debt. Including ours. There’s no way to fix it, either.

Until the one-trillion-dollar bills come. And then a few zeros get lopped off.

Shameful. Or, rather, shameless. In Chicago’s two Chinatown neighborhoods you’ll regularly see Asians buying carts full of soda pop when it’s on sale at a local grocery store. They then resell in their little markets and restaurants. Of course that’s different from accepting handouts . . .

From their website:

“Facing Hunger Foodbank is a private, non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1983 and is incorporated in West Virginia. Formerly known as the Huntington Area Food Bank, the foodbank initially served Cabell and Wayne Counties. The need was so great across the region that the foodbank expanded its service area after just its first year of operation. The foodbank’s service area currently includes 248 agencies across 17 counties in West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio.”

This organization apparently, like many, started as a simple foodbank 30 years ago and has morphed into a regional food distribution agency.

It is in Appalachia, a region that has historically been poor.

[All that work went overseas]

Many were replaced by H1-B, too.

I don't believe most of these people are in danger of hunger.

I believe most of them want free food.

[248 agencies]

I was wondering if 129 locations served 1,000 per day.

By those numbers, that’s an average of about 520+ people per day x 248.

And I’ve said before, I pull up to the convenience store and there are guys driving $40,000 and $50,000+ vehicles with $2,000 to $4,000 worth of rims.

And I wonder, where did all that money come from?

Don’t tell me, let me guess...

I worked at a Temporary jobs place when I lived in VA. You can’t imagine how many “workers”, esp. women, would refuse to work more than 20 hrs. a week. They didn’t want their Food stamps, WIC, etc. to stop. I was a trusting soul when I started there. I was a cynical, impatient b!tch when I left.

Radio host Michael Savage started out as a social worker. The scales quickly fell from his eyes when he was confronted with the excesses and abuse of the social welfare system.

“I smell a rat here.”

If the food bank is open 14 hours a day, that’s 153 people a minute being served.

“How can so many need food banks?”

When much of the population has no employment, it happens. Think of the lines for the soup kitchens during the Great Depression.

Yes, and isn’t there a certain hairdresser in Texas who has made the news lately because she got arrested for opening her salon so that she and stylists who work for her can earn money and buy food?

Even on a good day, pre-pandemic, people who didn’t need the food banks used them.

I expect that’s probably still the case, and maybe people figure it’s an excuse to get out.

And i wonder how much if it is getting stored in addition to the weekly grocery shopping.

JD Farag read a headline on his most recent update about a Worldwide Starvation that is currently on the horizon.

Don’t see that there is anything anybody can do to prevent it, considering most “in charge” want it to happen.

Folks need to think about it.
I’m not going to have to deal with it thankfully.

It will certainly get the attention of even some of the mockers, during the Tribulation.
