I am patronizing a local farm .... they can’t get their cows/hogs butchered so they have run out of product. They still have plenty of eggs. A relative just took delivery of 25 ‘meat’ chicks & this weekend, will be getting two calves to raise for a year before they go to the butcher (they have enough acreage in pasture to support the cows). We eat a lot of venison - I stocked up on bacon, sausage, & fatty burger to mix with the lean venison, plus scored on $2.99/lb chuck roast (bought $80 worth) just prior to all heck breaking loose with COVID. The local nursery/Lowe’s etc. ... anyone selling veggie plants is super busy & the farm supply stores are selling all the chicks they can get. Maybe people are waking up - need to find a way besides Walmart, Publix, big chain stores to get food. We are definitely storing away canned food (protein) for future shortages.
In FL, restrictions were lifted so restaurants can sell retail. They are still getting their large orders from suppliers that they would normally get, but are breaking it down into reasonable size packages that people can use. The employees have jobs breaking down the food .... they also deliver, in some cases; otherwise, you order & drive up to pick up.
That’s the ingenuity we need right now...and that’s what America is about. It’s not about destroying healthy animals and turning them into dog food for cost efficiency! That makes no sense!
