Was the death rate of the swine flu for any age group 15, 20, or even 25%? I don’t think so. Covid-19 has the potential to massacre the elderly. In my country, the death rate is 6.5% for those who are 65 - 74 years old, 16% for those who are 75 - 84 years old, 29% for those who are 85 or older.
Note a fair comparasion. The death rate for octogenarians for any pathology is much higher than for younger people. The bulk of H1N1 deaths were in middle age people who should not have died at a high rate.
We didn’t shut the country down for that, and we should not have shut the country down for this.
The tuber of deaths projected 2.2M is ludicrous, as there are not even 200,000 deaths worldwide. It boggles the mind to believe we would have had 10x as many deaths in America than world wide
