Revised Coronavirus ‘Boondoggle’ to Return to House Floor for Unanimous Consent Vote

On Monday, the House of Representatives will have to vote on a revised version of the coronavirus relief package that passed early Saturday morning, after “technical changes” were hastily added to the bill, (Roll Call) reported.

After hours of negotiations between Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin, H.R. 6201, (the Families First Coronavirus Response Act) sailed through congress with a vote of 363-40-1. Democratic legislators voted in lock-step for the bill while 40 Republicans voted against, bucking President’s Trump’s stated support for the emergency relief package. Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.) cast the abstaining vote. The revisions didn’t make to the version of the bill the House voted on, so a do-over has been planned for Monday morning.

There should be No Pork tacked on to this bill. It is an expensive bill so a time limit of the "govt help" should be included before passing this bill. This is in many ways fear driven by the MSM and those hoping to make a "buck or two" (enrich themselves). Americans should know what agency's are involves and who is running them. A tight rein is needed for this sort of spending. Remember the used car dealers? The mobile homes for the Katrina homeless....? Call your elected, let them know you care how this emergency spending goes down.

After all the BS the Dems tried to slip into last weeks bill, go through it with a fine tooth comb.

Gohmert opposes Trump

Louie Gohmert harshly criticized the deal Donald Trump has recommended that congress pass.

The conservative lawmaker laced into President Trump’s deal calling it a boondoggle.

Voters will have a chance to assess the merits of Gohmert’s disloyalty to the President this November.

There should be no "pork" tacked on to ANY bill. This habit of attaching things that would never pass muster individually to highly desirable legislation has to cease. This is in many ways fear driven by the MSM and those hoping to make a "buck or two" (enrich themselves).

There's nothing wrong with making a buck or two, provided the goods or services offer value for the money. Do that well and consistently and you deserve to enrich yourself. It's the "gotcha by the short hairs, pay me!" to which I object.

He's our guy (Trump), but he is capable of being wrong just like the rest of us. Pointing that out is not disloyal, it is simply honest. I'd like to see Gohmert's reasoning before passing judgement on his loyalty, which should be to the country and the constitution rather than to the president.

The Democrats don’t deserve a unanimous vote. This Bill was written in bad faith and is still self-serving for the Democrats. The vote should reflect that.

Remember Schumer gloating about how much money his State was going to get out of the earlier 8.3 billion.

Gohmert is solid. The coronavirus bill is a wasteful farce. If the dems are 100% for it, it’s guaranteed to be bad for America

“Gohmert complained that the bill was rushed through before anyone had had a chance to read it and before it had gone through the proper committees.”

Very reasonable. He also pointed out that there was no need for a rush since the emergency declaration gives Trump ready access to 50 billion dollars.

I agree, let them suffer. Who cares if millions lose their jobs? It’s their own fault for having jobs in the first place. If they were just unemployed on SSDI like me, this wouldn’t happen to them.

““Gohmert complained that the bill was rushed through before anyone had had a chance to read it and before it had gone through the proper committees.””

RIDICULOUS! Let Congress rearrange the deck chairs and discuss the shape of the table while Costa Concordia capsizes.

Titanic: “Sir, we’er heading right for that iceberg, we need to act IMMEDIATELY!”

“Call an officers meeting for tomorrow morning and we will discuss it.”

Costa Concordia: “Sir, we’er heading right for that big rock, we need to act IMMEDIATELY!”

“”Call an officers meeting for tomorrow morning and we will discuss it.”

Pass it NOW, fix it LATER.

Ive watched Louie Gohmert for a long time.
He always has been one of THE most solid conservatives in congress, & most willing to do the RIGHT thing— for us, not for himself— & political expediency be damned.
He’s not a surface-skimmer. He goes deep & actually reads the bills & knows what tricks the other side is trying to pull & he informs the constituents.

In his entire tenure, long before Trump’s election, he has routinely defended our constitution, our republic & its taxpayers with reason & common sense.
For this he is denounced as a “whackjob” & “extremist” by the extremist whackjobs on the left.

One more reason to pay attention to what the guy is talking about.

Exactly. That’s why he knows more than that idiot in the White House Trump who can’t get his policies passed, thanks to Gohmert.

Ahhh, the bill was full of irrelevant pork, courtesy of Nancy Pelosi. Gohmert was one of the ones who called attention to it. Trump did also.
Trump wanted the bill amended, as did Gohmert.
Various news outlets reported the sequence of events according to their respective agendas.
Try and keep up.
