The U.S. Department of Defense officially adopted a series of ethical principles for the use of Artificial Intelligence today following recommendations provided to Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper by the Defense Innovation Board last October.

You can tell AI what to do, but it will ignore the stupid humans—that is the definition of AI!
“Governable. The Department will design and engineer AI capabilities to fulfill their intended functions while possessing the ability to detect and avoid unintended consequences...”
This is the tricky part. Much of the time, unintended consequences happen because you didn’t foresee some situation, so how are you going to detect and avoid a situation that you didn’t foresee?
and will our future advisors likewise have AI ethics?
Hmmm... Seems very odd seeing the words “ethical”, “intelligence”, and “DOD” in the same sentence...
What makes the DOD think that AI will tow the line?
